Summary: The 4 rated Hey Joe Canyon trail climbs down into the Green River gorge Labyrinth Canyon through Spring Canyon. The trail ends in the Hey Joe Canyon mining ruins before it doubles back through Labyrinth Canyon. The attraction here is a collection of old mining artifacts scattered around the Hey Joe Mine site. The river scenery is great, too, but you may be to busy fighting the elements to notice. A great trail for UTVs.
Location: Take Highway 191 north out of Moab and then turn west on Highway 313. The trail spurs left off the junction with the Dubinky well road about a mile and a half after leaving Highway 313.
The Trail: The views while dropping down the ledge road in Spring Canyon and along the Green River in Labyrinth Canyon are spectacular. The drop into Spring Canyon is steep on a rough ledge road. It is a very sudden change from the straight graded road that leads to it. The trail along the bottom is subject to rockfalls. Other rock falls contribute to the challenge. Brush crowds both sides of the trail in Labyrinth Canyon.
Be careful, the River is deep and swift along the side of the trail and the trail is extremely narrow in places. MUST TRAILER
